Kwestię granic języka i lingwistyki autor rozważa, odwołując się do tzw. pełnej teorii naukowej. W złożonej hierarchiczno-sieciowej strukturze tej teorii można wyróżnić trzy poziomy; bazę filozoficzną, interpretacyjny obraz świata oraz część empiryczną. A następnie skupia uwagę na tej bazie, tj. na założeniach ontologicznych i epistemologiczno-aksjologicznych teorii języka. Wyróżnia cztery sposoby istnienia rzeczywistości językowej (konkretne teksty, system językowy, indywidualną i zbiorową świadomość językową), które pozostają we wzajemnych relacjach. Language reality and linguistics. The author considers the ąuestion of the boundaries of language and linguistics, referring to the so-called full scientific theory. In the complex hierarchical-network structure of this theory, one can distinguish three levels: the philosophical basis, the theoretical-methodological level, and the empirical part. The article focuses on the ontological and epistemologica/-axiological assumptions of the theory of language. The fundamental transformations of contemporary world, which have encompassed also science and language reality, have posed a peculiar challenge to linguistics. A relevant linguistics-founded response ought to be an increased interest in all ways of language existence (concrete communication acts and their products in the form of texts, a system language, individual language awareness and collective language consciousness) as well as their interactions. Its effect should be, besides many new empirical concepts, a fuller synthesizing theory.
